I’m so excited to be busy with the Toronto Jazz Festival this year!

You can catch me with…

Monday 6/26: Dialectica and Hogtown Brass Quintet at Church of the Redeemer, 7pm

This show also includes a premiere of mine, “Sandy Cove”, an experiment based off my bizarre last visit to the eponymous place in North Vancouver. And I

Tuesday 6/27: Chelsea and the Cityscape at the OLG Stage at Hazelton Avenue and Scollard Street, 4pm

We’re back, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. New tunes, old favourites: the sounds of the city, in the heart of the city.

Sunday 7/2: TJO Radiohead Jazz Project X at the Rex, 9:30pm

I love the TJO but the Radiohead projects are easily my favourite Toronto Jazz Orchestra shows – and finally, I’m gonna get a chance to play one! Be sure to come close out the jazz fest in style with us, as we’re playing OK Computer top to bottom, including my arrangement of “Let Down”, and it’s going to be an awesome show.

June 3, 2017: Tales from Turtle Island

I’m thrilled to be closing out Spectrum’s sixth season with Tales from Turtle Island June 3. This is one of our most ambitious concerts to date and features the debut of our newest artistic producer, Olivia Shortt. Tickets available here, hope to see you there!

Toronto Composers Collective Spectrum Music brings storytelling and musicians together in a special concert for Canada’s 150th birthday. One of our oldest art forms, storytelling remains an important part of the culture of many Indigenous communities in Turtle Island, the land that encompasses most of North America.

Playwright Yolanda Bonnell has written a collection of five new pieces to be paired with new compositions by the Spectrum composers. Actor Rachel Cantin will perform the pieces alongside an ensemble featuring members of the Metis Fiddler Quartet and DJ/electronic artist Classic Roots.

Violinist Alyssa Delbaere-Sawchuk adds her compositional voice to the concert, as she performs an excerpt of her work “Memere Colibri”: a piece for solo violin, storytelling, and projections. Classic Roots (aka Joshua DePerry) will perform a solo piece for electronics and Pow Wow dance.
